ArtFactory Studio - A Potted History

ArtFactory’s roots are firmly ensconced in creativity. Founded in 2012, ArtFactory was borne out of the creative department against the backdrop of the buzzing, vibrant atmosphere of a London design and communications agency.

Formed by a group of individuals sharing a desire to create, a taste for the finer things in life, a love of art and a thirst for fun, our mission from the outset was simple really – share our passion for creativity with others.

We decided to form ArtFactory while we were working for some of the world’s biggest brands in marketing communications – corporate identities, literature, signage and advertising. We handled all aspects of creativity from calligraphy, illustration and photography through to typography, graphic design and print production.

It was challenging work in a high-pressure environment. While it was certainly rewarding producing international campaigns, our creative appetites were not sated.

The commercial recognition, industry awards, financial rewards and proven success were there but we wanted more. We wanted to escape the shackles and express ourselves creatively, without limits, without corporate guidelines, without clients and without the constant references to budgets and commerciality ... Our goal: to create art for art’s sake.

It started with a few of our creatives sharing some of the work they had produced in their own time. We then bandied around some ideas for works we would like to see. From small beginnings, we started to print and sell some originals and limited edition prints. ArtFactory has taken on several new artists who share our passion for creativity since our inception.

We still dabble in the world of graphic design and corporate communications and our artists are still engaged in commercial enterprise but we will always make time to create great art.
