Daisy Duke’s American Candy Store came into being in 2012, borne out of a cheery discussion held over a shared love of American culture and a mutual deep-seated passion for indulgent, mouth-watering American confectionery.
The founders were fortunate enough to be introduced to American candy as children. In later years, a few of us regularly travelled to the USA on business where we would buy American candy to indulge in while stateside.
We enjoyed American candy so much, we would always pack some American candies in our suitcases to bring back to the UK. Rather handily, we also had American friends who would always arrive in the UK armed with stocks of our favourite American candy and USA chocolate.
We introduced American candy to our friends in the UK with a 5lb bag of Jolly Rancher hard-boiled candies, some Jelly Belly gourmet jellybeans, a Baby Ruth and a Tootsie Roll or two. We were asked to get more … and more … and more.
Individual candy bars packed into suitcases in NYC became cartons, cartons then filled a container, a container became regular freighted candy imports…. The rest, as they say, is history.
We had big aspirations from the outset … We set out to create the very best online sweetshop where candy fans could buy American candy in the UK.
To this day, we are striving to become the best American candy shop in the UK. And, for that matter, the very best candy store on planet earth, heck, let’s say the universe... Our aspirations always have been and will remain pretty lofty....
